"I am a passionate believer in the value of music education and live performance opportunities, which should be available to all"

Operatic bass Alastair Miles has had an international career for almost forty years. He has made over ninety recordings and has sung at all the leading opera houses of the world. Before becoming a singer, he was a professional flautist, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is the recipient of several awards including the John Christie Award from Glyndebourne, the Decca Kathleen Ferrier Prize and, most recently, the Sir Charles Santley Memorial Gift from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

Alastair has been a Cambridge resident for the past twenty-two years. Having benefited from free state music provision in his youth, he is a passionate believer in the value of music education and live performance opportunities, which should be available to all.
